Operating, the patient population/disease process, diversity in practice (small procedures, large procedures, endoscopy).

What is your research interest?

Colorectal oncology, diverticulitis, quality improvement.

What do you like about this program?

The quality and prioritization of resident teaching, good diversity of subspecialties, excellent colleagues.

What is your hope for this program?

To continue being a leader in surgical education and research, train excellent surgeons and future colleagues.

What do you like about training residents?

To see their improvement as time goes on, but also to keep myself up to date.

What is the thing you’re most proud of in your professional life?

Providing good care to my patients from day to day; in academia, running an RCT during residency.

What do you do outside of work?

Travelling, running, board games, Formula 1.

Tell us something people should know about you.

I took up rowing while studying for my Master’s degree in England; in women’s 8+ I row as Stroke, and I cox for the men. Still looking for crew in Ottawa!
